BIOGRAPHY OF RAMON BAUTISTA RODRIGUEZ MILIAN.
Ramón Bautista Rodríguez Milián was born on August 21, 1926, in the town of El Roque, municipality of Perico, province of Matanzas, son of Felipe and Ana Columba.
His childhood was spent in the greatest poverty, as he was orphaned by his mother from an early age and his father, an agricultural worker exploited by the bosses, was unable to care for him and needed to hand him over to a family in Cárdenas, where he lived for some years. There he began his studies in a Public School and upon reintegrating himself into the paternal home he managed to reach the 4th grade at the Rural School of Quintana, studies that he abandoned because he dedicated himself to the rough task of making charcoal to help support his home.
Among the agricultural activities that he carries out, he managed a farm in the Central Mercedes, thus improving his economic situation. It was then that he met Nieves García Hernández with whom he married in 1946. A son was born from this marriage.
Through friends he manages to work as a driver in a small bus company that makes the journey from Jagüey Grande to Perico, later moving to the company "La Estrella del Sur" where he is elected Secretary General of the Union, standing out for his attitude and spirit of sacrifice.
Since he was young, he expressed concern about the destinies of his homeland, being outraged at the environment of existing political corruption and the exploitation in which he lived. His character was upright and fair, showing himself responsible for any activity that was indicated to him, hence he earned the respect and admiration of his co-workers and for his great work in the Transport Union, he became the Secretary General of the province of Matanzas.
His training has an extraordinary influence on his co-workers, among them Adolfo Delgado who died in the Assault on the Presidential Palace. Faithful representative of the working class, he harangued his colleagues so that together they could demand from the Bus Companies Menéndez and Únicos de Cárdenas, the payment of seventeen years of paid rest that was owed to them. On this occasion the administrator Lino Menéndez offers him a blank check so that he could put the number he wanted, Rodríguez Milián replied, the money does not buy conscience and that what he represented was worth more than all the money that was offered to him
