"In addition, going through Covid-19 while a pregnant woman increases the chances of premature birth and, as a
consequence, the newborn goes to neonatal care units," he said.
In Cuba, most of the pregnant women with Covid-19 presented a stable clinical evolution, as only one needed intensive
care.
Data from the Pan American Health Organization indicate that in September 2020 in 14 countries of the Americas 60,458
pregnant women had been diagnosed with the coronavirus and 458 died.
The director of the National Center for Medical Genetics, Beatriz Marcheco, explained to Prensa Latina that during a
study of this branch of 1,182 patients who had Covid-19, the seven pregnant women included in the research passed
the disease without presenting complications.
Neither did they find any repercussions on the fetus, nor was there evidence of any inconvenience in the state of
gestation after applying the treatments used on the island against the SARS-CoV-2 virus for any patient, the expert
