BIOGRAPHY OF FERNANDO ALFONSO TORICE.

Fernando Alfonso Torices, was born in Máximo Gómez, Matanzas province, on May 27, 1927, being his parents Andrés Manuel and Inocencia.

Of humble, peasant origin, whose main work was agriculture. The father was the only one who worked to support his five children.

As a child, he studied at Public School No. 4, reaching the 5th grade. He leaves his studies to start as a worker to help support his family. He works as an agricultural worker in road construction, also in the El Roque Canal. From a young age, he understood the injustice prevailing in Cuba and felt as his own the sufferings of the rural workers, influencing his formation, the family of Abelardo Castro who belonged to the Popular Socialist Party, the anti-imperialist ideas of Guiteras and his own parents.

He was known in hiding, with the nickname of Moruíta. Although he did not belong to the Popular Socialist Party, he was one of his most faithful collaborators, later joining A.R.G. with Pedro Díaz, Manolo Pico and Adalberto Martínez.

As proof of their repudiation, the existing regime carries out sabotage and is rebellious against tyranny, becoming an agitator, constantly being chased by the henchmen in Máximo Gómez and decides to move to Havana. There he continued his revolutionary activities, always refusing to go to exile and the Sierra, since he considered that his work on the plain was more effective and necessary.

He carried out the transfer of a radio plant from Santa Clara to Havana; actively participated in the night of the 100 bombs; He organized action groups in Vedado, Santos Suárez, Luyanó and La Víbora, together with Ángel Almejeiras (Machado).

On several occasions he confronted the enemy, always managing to escape, but not before showing his refusal to accept the system.

He was arrested and savagely tortured by Ventura and his assassins who abandoned him, believing him dead on the Guanabo highway where he is picked up by his companions who manage to save his life.

As a consequence of his participation in the night of the 100 bombs, he was arrested and sentenced to 5 months in prison at the Castillo del Príncipe, and when his determination to continue the fight against tyranny was released, he became enormous. Already at this time he held the rank of Captain of the Insurrection.

On September 27, 1958, he was surprised by a patrol car when he tried to set fire to three harrows that belonged to a son of the dictator Batista. With bravery and courage, he maintains an unequal fight to protect the life of the comrade who drove the car he was traveling in, to whom he tells him to continue the journey, facing only his enemies, shooting every last bullet of his revolver, he was shot down by the minions in Santa Clara and Narciso López streets in the La Esperanza neighborhood.

He was posthumously promoted to the rank of Commander, in fair recognition or his tenacity and courage. With the dedication of his life to the just cause, Fernando Alfonso Torices points out the path to be followed by our future generations
