BIOGRAPHICAL DATA OF ANDRÉS MORENO DE LA TORRE.

In the second half of the 19th century, exactly in the year 1861, Andrés Moreno was born in Guanajayabo, who joined the Liberation Army in January 1896. On the 10th of the same month, General Lacret commissioned Moreno to revolt the Cárdenas guerrillas, who were under the command of Lieutenant Benito Trujillo.

January 20, 1896 is proposed for the rank of Commander of the Liberation Army. In the month of March, Andrés Moreno passes under the orders of the General in Chief of the Liberation Army in the demolished mill "San Luis"; in April of the same year he was appointed war auditor with Colonel's considerations.

On May 23, 1896, Andrés Moreno rejoins the Gómez forces in the company of other officers; Two days later, he separated from Gómez to head west.

 On November 6, 1896, the local recreational guerrilla dispersed a party of 40 men led by Moreno himself. On February 5, 1897, Moreno de la Torre was named by Gómez Lieutenant Colonel with seniority to the date of January 20, 1896.

On April 19, 1897, Moreno traveled as special commissioner of the headquarters to meet with Lieutenant Colonel General José María Rodríguez (Mayía), Head of the Department of the West to send the representatives of the same to the Constituent Assembly that would be held that year.

Andrés Moreno was appointed representative to the Chamber of La Yaya, where he was conferred the position of Secretary of State, which he served in the country, participating on behalf of the 5th Army corps along with Freyre de Andrade and Manuel Alfonso; Subsequently, on October 5 of the same year, he was appointed Colonel with Antiquity on May 11, 1897, on that same date he was appointed Colonel of the Legal Corps.

In the month of May 1898 Andrés Moreno is in Camagüey fulfilling functions as Secretary of the Exterior in La Manigua. He remained serving in the Liberation Army until August 24, 1898, he was wounded twice during the war, he came to hold the rank of Major General; He was licensed in Havana on July 15, 1899, he died in that city in the 30s of the 20th century.
