Los Periqueños immersed in the campaign: From the Neighborhood, cultivate your little piece.

Family farming is one of the options within the broad spectrum of development, with it articulates several factors that give life to the community and that find their equivalence in the Movement of Urban and Suburban Agriculture, a program that is executed by the Ministry of the Agriculture where small producers, local production and consumption circuits, as well as the recovery of traditional crops play an important role in food security.

To promote family crops, as a way to strengthen food security, we are all called to join the campaign 'From the neighborhood, cultivate your little piece', aimed at promoting food production from family farming.

This initiative responds to the need to take advantage of suitable spaces for this activity, which were unused in our homes, and thus obtain agricultural products for home consumption.

Precisely, this procedure is considered a sustainable modality, which is managed by the family and depends on the capital and labor of its members.

The sowing of vegetables, vegetables and meats in plots and patios of homes is a contribution in favor of import substitution, a priority of the Cuban economy. This practice will contribute to achieving stronger food security, in harmony with the environment and humans. In our municipality there are many families that have turned to this task and thus in this way, as expressed by our president Miguel Díaz Canel: Think like a country.
