Moving towards a new normal, gradually and asymmetrically, constitutes one of the purposes of the National Plan to confront COVID-19, in addition to mitigating the economic and social impact caused by the epidemic and the tightening of the North American blockade against Cuba, and developing the monitoring and control capabilities of the events that arise in the future.
After several days of specifying plans, measures and calls for individual, collective and community self-responsibility, one of the main lessons of seven months of fighting COVID-19, from today almost all of Cuba enters the stage of new normality.
A new step, and not just any one, but a decisive one for confronting the pandemic and for the immediate future of Cuba, begins today.
After what you've been through, no one should be able to underestimate the danger posed by the virus. This people has enough information not to indulge in naive behaviors motivated by overconfidence.
Let us embrace the conviction that it is possible, even under the circumstances of a global health emergency, to reactivate services, production, oxygenate our economy, but let us also be aware that alongside all this, we continue, as a State and as a people, facing COVID-19.
Better than anyone else, President Díaz-Canel defined it: «For a people like ours, solidly united, there are no impossibilities. We can defeat everything ».
